Guidelines on single group funding dropped
The Government has dropped draft guidelines which would have seen an end to funding being given to groups with a single ethnic, religious or cultural identity. Instead they have recognised that decisions on funding should be left to local leaders.
The original proposals were intended to tackle isolation and exclusion. They had met with widespread opposition from within the voluntary sector, especially from NAVCA (opens in a new window) which is the umbrella body for Councils for Voluntary Service.
