Partnerships

Partnership working is an essential feature of the voluntary & community sector and public service agencies. As a Council for Voluntary Service it is a core element of our role, not only working in partnership ourselves but also promoting and supporting the development of partnerships in the borough, both within the sector and with statutory bodies.

Much of our work is delivered within partnership arrangements.

  • Our Children & Young People and Neighbourhood Engagement projects are delivered in partnership with LB Lewisham.
  • The Compact and ChangeUp Steering Groups, which VAL convenes and facilitates, comprise a range of voluntary and statutory (LB Lewisham & Lewisham PCT) reps
  • Our Community Accountancy project is part of ASSET, a partnership with similar projects in Southwark, Greenwich and Bexley.
  • Plans for an IT support project are being developed jointly with Greenwich and Bexley, through a sub-regional grouping within East London Network.

VAL is represented on the Local Strategic Partnership and on a number of other Boards that report to the LSP.

We are also involved with Lewisham LINk, Lewisham Timebanks, Lewisham Volunteering Strategy Group and other cross-sector partnerships.

Sub-regionally we play an active role within the East London Network and the East London Partnership (the ChangeUp arm of ELN). Where appropriate and, in our view, potentially beneficial to Lewisham we work with London-wide or national organisations to develop and/or improve both policy and practical delivery.
